Announcing Global Product Options

Global Product Options is now generally available in Medusa and included in the latest release, version 2.17.0, of Medusa.

What global product options are

Previously, every product in Medusa carried its own isolated set of options. A store with 200 products using the same "Size" option maintained 200 independent copies with no way to standardize them across the catalog.

Global product options let you define an option once and attach it to as many products as you need. Changes to the option or its values propagate across all linked products without manual updates to each one.

Global product options allows you to:

• Create reusable options (Size, Color, Material) and assign them across your product catalog
• Manage option values centrally, so updates apply everywhere the option is used
• Mix global options and product-specific options on the same product when needed
• Filter products by shared options on the storefront

Get started

Update your Copy to clipboard@medusajs/* packages to the latest version and run Copy to clipboardmedusa db:migrate to apply the schema changes. Full documentation is available in the our documentation.
