Announcing Storefronts on Cloud

Medusa Cloud shortens the time from zero to production with a Medusa store.

Until now we've focused on enabling that for Medusa backends. With just a few clicks, merchants and developers can deploy a production-ready commerce API and admin dashboard. But that's only half the story.

Offering customers a storefront experience to browse products and place orders is critical to building a successful commerce business. Historically, this required deploying and operating a storefront application outside of Medusa Cloud.

Today, we're excited to introduce Storefronts; a major step toward making Medusa Cloud the fastest place to go from idea to first processed order. With Storefronts, Medusa Cloud now offers a truly full-stack hosting experience. No additional services needed.

What is Storefronts?

Storefronts lets you build, deploy, and run your customer-facing storefronts directly on Medusa Cloud, alongside your commerce backend and dashboard. The need for an external hosting provider is eliminated, along side its operations operational complexity, such as managing separate deployment workflows and wiring up the communications between the applications.

Storefronts are deployed on a globally distributed edge network close to your customers, giving them a blazing-fast browsing experience.

How it works

Storefront Hosting is available for projects that use a monorepo setup with Turbo or Nx. We currently support the following frontend frameworks:

• Next.js
• TanStack Start
• SvelteKit

If your project doesn't meet these requirements today, you can migrate it following the guide in our documentation, or submit a support ticket through Medusa Cloud with your project details. We are actively expanding support based on customer feedback.

To make getting started with Medusa as simple as possible, we have updated our DTC and B2B starters to be compatible with Storefronts out of the box. New projects based on these starters can deploy a full-stack application on Medusa Cloud with no additional configuration.

Storefronts comes with support for custom domains. You can configure your domain directly from your project's environment settings in Medusa Cloud:

Improved development workflows

With Storefronts, we are significantly improving workflows for teams building with Medusa. Medusa Cloud deploys storefronts for all the environments in your projects, including previews with zero configuration needed.

Combined with backend previews, automatically seeded data, and "Log in with Medusa Cloud" (insert links for all here), there is now very little friction in testing and validating new changes to your application.

Open a pull request with a new feature and preview it immediately end-to-end:

• Interact with the storefront in the storefront preview
• Sign into the admin preview with your Medusa Cloud credentials
• Validate behavior against branched data from a long lived environment
