Selection Mode lets you make instant controlled storefront edits, from making quick text edits to refining specific components through targeted prompts.

Last week, we launched Bloom, an AI-powered assistant with deep commerce expertise that helps you build and manage custom commerce experiences using natural language.
With Bloom, you can turn your ideas into a webshop with a few prompts. Bloom runs on Medusa, so you already have Medusa’s powerful commerce features baked in, while customizing the storefront and Admin is possible with easy prompting.
Below, we showcase Selection Mode, one of many features that are built into Bloom to make it easy for you to build custom ecommerce experiences in minutes.
Introducing Bloom
Learn about the idea and vision behind Bloom in our Announcement post.
Make adjustments instantly with Selection Mode
When designing or iterating on a storefront, sometimes you just want to change one small thing: a headline, a color, a button label. Typing a full prompt like “update the hero title text to…” can feel unnecessary.
To avoid this, we built Selection Mode in Bloom. Instead of describing every change through prompts, Selection Mode allows you to click, select, and modify elements directly on your storefront.
For example, you can select a button and instantly update its label, adjust its color, or modify its border margins without needing to do any prompting.
You can use Selection mode to make changes such as:
- Text edits: Click any text component to start editing its text
- Text styling: Edit fonts or margins directly from your toolbar
- Color changes: Use the colour palette to change colors of text or backgrounds
Targeted prompting
Targeted prompting is part of Selection Mode and allows you to make precise, controlled edits to your storefront.
After selecting an element in Selection Mode, you can write a prompt that applies only to that specific component. For example, you can click a button and ask Bloom to “use the secondary brand color,” or select a product card and prompt “add a hover effect to this section.” Bloom will apply your instructions only to the selected element and keep the rest of the page unchanged.
This approach helps you make small, accurate updates without affecting other parts of your storefront. It reduces the need for detailed explanations in prompts and makes refining your design faster and more reliable.
