Medusa Cloud offers two plans that cater to different audiences and stages of development. We cover what each plan offers and how they differ.

We built Medusa Cloud to support your Medusa application development from day one. That is why we created plans designed to take you from initial development to launching with your first few customers, and eventually scaling to hundreds of thousands, without breaking the bank.
In this post, we will cover the differences between Medusa's Hobby and Pro plans, what they include, and which types of stores and development stages they are best suited for.
What does the Hobby plan give me?
The Hobby plan ($29/mo) is the perfect entry point for developers and small businesses looking to build and experiment with Medusa. It provides all the essential tools you need to get your project off the ground without any upfront infrastructure costs.
All core features are included on the Hobby plan, namely:
- Always-on production environment
- Database, Redis instance, and S3 provided out of the box
- Github integration
- Push-to-deploy flows
- Preview environments
- Built-in autoscaling
There are a few characteristics of the Hobby plan that are important to consider as you scale your business:
- Brief downtime during new deployments
- A single point of failure, which can result in occasional downtime
- Slower response times as traffic increases
So, with that in mind, when is the Hobby plan a good choice?
Imagine you run ACME Inc., selling personalized keychains. You are the sole developer on the project, building your dream business. After a month of development, you go live and start getting a few orders a day.
The Hobby plan can serve you well up to this point on your journey to a successful business, all without going over the $29 price tag.
When should I switch to the Pro plan?
The Pro plan ($299/mo) is engineered for production workloads. It includes everything in the Hobby plan, plus critical upgrades that ensure reliability and performance at scale.
The Pro plan adds support for:
- Zero-downtime deployments
- Automatically configured server/worker setup
- High-availability with multiple instances running concurrently
- More powerful instances, resulting in faster processing and response times
Going back to ACME Inc. you have now validated your business and you are ready to grow. To prepare for an anticipated surge in traffic, you upgrade to the Pro plan. You have also hired two more engineers to help you build.
A friend shares your business on socials, you go viral, and you start getting hundreds of orders a day. At this stage, uptime and speed are critical to your bottom line. Every minute of downtime directly affects revenue and brand image. On the Pro plan, your infrastructure scales automatically to ensure reliability, without needing a dedicated infrastructure team.
