Faster storefronts, deployment rules, and budget alerts

Medusa Cloud is the absolute best place for you to build and scale your commerce projects with Medusa. We just rolled out a batch of updates to speed up your storefronts, protect your budget, and give you more control over your workflow.

Here's a quick rundown of what's new.

Next.js Incremental Cache Support

Keeping product data fresh without tanking your load times is a classic headache. Medusa Cloud now fully supports Next.js Incremental Static Regeneration (ISR) and incremental caching. This will make storefronts on Medusa Cloud even more performant

How can you use it: The incremental cache is enabled by default for all customers. Currently we support time-based revalidation, with tag-based revalidation coming soon. If you haven't deployed in a while, all you need to do is trigger a new deployment and the caching mechanism will kick in.

Preview and Deploy Rules

Deploying every single commit gets noisy and expensive. We added granular rules so you can define exactly when and how your code goes live. Rules can be applied to specify when a preview environment should (or shouldn't) get created, and to specify when a commit should trigger a new deploy.

How you can use it: Want to spin up a preview environment only when a PR has a staging label? Or lock production deploys whenever a commit message carries a "deploy:" prefix? Head to your project's settings page to configure preview environment rules, and to your environment's settings page for environment-specific deploy rules.

Configurable Project and Environment Specs

Customers have multiple projects, and long-lived environments were tied to the same infrastructure spec, whether one project is high-traffic and the other is still in development.

In order to give you more control, you now have the flexibility to configure the infrastructure spec profiles per project and long-lived environments. You can select any lower-tier plan for every additional project or long-lived environment, so they consume fewer resources than what your organization plan typically mandates.

How you can use it: Let's say your organization is on the Scale plan. You can keep your production environment running on those high-performance Scale resources to handle live traffic smoothly. At the same time, you can dial down your development environment to run on the lighter Develop specs. This ensures you aren't paying for heavy compute power where you don't need it. You can manage the specs per-project and per-environment directly from their respective settings pages.

Budget Alerts

We want to make sure your infrastructure cost will not surprise you. To help you manage costs as you scale, we built Budget Alerts directly into the dashboard.

How you can use it: Set custom thresholds, and we will email you when you reach 80%, and next at 100% overages of the set budget threshold. You can configure the budget alerts from the Billing details page.
