Medusa Cloud now lets you view, restore, and download database backups from the dashboard.

Medusa Cloud now supports database backup management directly from the admin dashboard. You can see, restore, or download your data backups directly from the dashboard. This feature is available today for all customers on the Launch plan and higher.

Previously, creating snapshots or restoring data required coordinating with our support engineers. You can now handle these operations independently. This reduces friction during development cycles and incident responses.

Automated and manual backups

Reliable safety nets are a requirement when deploying schema changes or running bulk data migrations. You can now manage the automatic daily snapshots of your PostgreSQL databases from the dashboard. You can also trigger manual backups at any time. This allows you to capture the database state immediately before executing data-sensitive operations that modify existing records and you need the extra safety of a backup.

You can perform the following actions from the UI:

  • Restore a snapshot directly to your production database
  • Trigger a manual backup through the "Export dump" functionality, stored and available as part of your backups
  • Download the database dump to your local machine

All backup files are stored in secure, geographically isolated storage buckets to prevent data loss during regional outages. Backup retention periods are determined by your Medusa Cloud plan.

Start managing your backups

Navigate to your Medusa Cloud dashboard and select the "Database & Storage" tab in your project environment's details page to view your available backups. Visit the Medusa Cloud documentation for exact details on plan-specific availability and retention windows.

If you're not on Cloud yet, get started here or get in touch, and we'll help you plan a migration from your current infrastructure.
