Core changelog

Five Core releases shipped in September, spanning v2.20.0 through v2.21.2. The main updates include:

• Search Module: Define indexes for products or other data models and query them through the Store API in v2.21.1.
• Payment and MFA security: v2.20.0 validates payment providers against a cart's region and requires a completed MFA challenge for protected routes.
• Fractional inventory: Track quantities by weight, length, or volume with units of measure in v2.20.0.
• Calculated draft-order shipping: Use third-party calculated rates when an operator creates an order in v2.20.0.
• Store API performance: v2.20.0 caps deeply nested relation expansion on public routes.
• Reusable Admin building blocks: v2.21.0 exports dashboard components, hooks, and utilities for custom Admin views.
• Store credit management: v2.21.1 lets Admin users create store-credit accounts and debit them.
• Security Update: v.2.21.0 includes an important security update in the store API. We therefore recommend that you upgrade to the latest version.

Cloud changelog

The Medusa Cloud changelog brought new controls for search, usage, and environments:

• Medusa Search: Built-in Search provider for free-text and semantic search (more below).
• Search analytics: See search volume, empty results, popular terms, and response times for your indexes.
• Database access: Enable or disable read access and rotate connection passwords from the dashboard.
• Team ownership: Promote organization members to Owner from team settings.

Medusa Search brings keyword, semantic, and hybrid search into Medusa, with indexes that stay in sync with your application. The Search Module runs on PostgreSQL locally, while the managed Medusa Search provider is available on Medusa Cloud. More in the announcement.
